Recipient of the 2009 First Place Award

 

Jessica Julin

Originally from Danville, California, Ms. Julin is the recent recipient of 1st place at the Giargiari Bel Canto Competition as well as the J.P. Parkinson Competition, both in Philadelphia, PA.  A Resident Artist with the Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) in Philadelphia.  Her recent performances have included Eudossia in LA FIAMMA with the Academy of Vocal Arts as well as her debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra, singing Magdelene in DIE MEISTERSINGER von NÜRNBERG under the baton of Rafael Frübeck de Burgos.

This summer, Ms. Julin made her European Debut as Giorgetta in IL TABARRO in Piobbico, Italy.  While at AVA,  she  also  performed  Amelia  in  UN  BALLO  in MASCHERA, the title role in VANESSA, Agatha in DER FREISCHÜTZ as well as Freia in DAS RHEINGOLD.  She has also been seen as Fiordiligi in COSÌ FAN TUTTE in Chautauqua Institution’s production.

In 2009, Ms. Julin was a finalist in the Met Opera National Auditions and was a prize winner of the Gerda Lissner Competition in NYC.
