Ashlyn Rust

Ashlyn received her Bachelors degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City where she was chosen to participate with such artists as Catherine Malfitano and Brian Zeger in classes and workshops focusing on operatic repertoire. 

She thrives on a career that consists of a variety of musical genres not limited to opera and musical theater and has also had extensive acting and dance training.

She was awarded the Margaret E. Petree School of Music Scholarship, a merit scholarship to the University of Houston as well as the Dance Theater of Arlington Scholarship.

While in New York, she performed with the American Musical Ensemble in such productions as Steven Sondheim’s SIDE BY SIDE, and a Lerner and Lowe musical revue and was selected to perform as a solo artist under the baton of Steven Sondheim’s principal condutor, Paul Gemignani, for a benefit concert at St. Regis Hotel.

Last summer she was selected as a young artist with Ash Lawn Opera and performed the roles of Sylvianne in THE MERRY WIDOW and Rolinda in WEST SIDE STORY.

Ashlyn is currently in pursuit of her Masters degree in vocal performance at the University of Houston where she has performed roles of Florence in THE GHOSTS OF VERSAILLES, Rose in STREET SCENE and Emilia in Handel’s FLAVIO.

This summer, Ashlyn will be a young artist with Des Moines Metro Opera where she will sing Gretel in a one-act version.
