{"id":5257,"date":"2016-12-27T20:47:40","date_gmt":"2016-12-27T20:47:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/somainfo.org\/?page_id=5257"},"modified":"2018-01-31T21:38:52","modified_gmt":"2018-01-31T21:38:52","slug":"dr-hector-aguero","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/soma-info.org\/?page_id=5257","title":{"rendered":"Dr. H\u00e9ctor Ag\u00fcero"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/soma-info.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Hector.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-5258\" title=\"Dr. H\u00e9ctor Ag\u00fcero\" src=\"https:\/\/soma-info.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Hector.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"258\" height=\"471\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Dr. H\u00e9ctor Ag\u00fcero is Assistant Professor of Music at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon where he conducts the University Chamber Orchestra and all Dramatic Vocal Arts productions.\u00a0 Hailed as \u201ca strong leader with a style everyone can follow,\u201d Dr. Ag\u00fcero is known for \u201cbalancing music\u2019s delights with its demands.\u201d Over the past decade Ag\u00fcero has earned a reputation as a dedicated music educator.\u00a0 He maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator.\u00a0 Before joining the music faculty at Willamette, Ag\u00fcero was the Music Director of the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra, a staff conductor with the Houston Youth Symphony, and Director of Orchestras as well as instrumental department chair at the prestigious High School for the Performing &amp; Visual Arts in Houston, Texas.\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">A strong advocate of new music, Dr. Ag\u00fcero has collaborated with and premiered works by American composers such as Monte Keene Pishny-Floyd and Robert S. Nelson. His choral engagements include The Fisk Jubilee Singers and collaborations with various prominent choral organizations in and around Houston.\u00a0 In 2010 he and the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra performed in concert with Grammy Award-winning artist B. J. Thomas. Ag\u00fcero made his operatic debut in 2006 at the Moores Opera Center in the Houston premier of Rossini\u2019s Il Turco in Italia.\u00a0 Since then he has continued his love of opera, most recently leading productions of Puccini\u2019s Gianni Schicchi and Thomas Pasatieri\u2019s The Hotel Casablanca.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800000;\">A native Texan, Dr. Ag\u00fcero has earned degrees in conducting and music education from the Texas Tech University School of Music in Lubbock where he was a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, and the University of Houston\u2019s Moores School of Music where he received the Schissler Conducting Fellowship.
