\"\"<\/a>Raehann Bryce-Davis has been hailed by the New York Times as a “striking mezzo soprano” that “sang and spoke potently and moved vivaciously.” Of her Santuzza at the Merola Opera Program Grand Finale,<\/span> the San Francisco Chronicle raved of the “electrifying sense of fearlessness” to the singing; that Bryce-Davis “infused her performance with a wealth of emotional and vocal color \u2014 now insinuating, now ablaze with righteous fury.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Winner of the 2016 Richard F. Gold Career Grant, the 2015 9th International Hilde Zadek Competition at the Musikverein in Vienna, the 2015 Metropolitan Opera National Council Pittsburgh District, and the 2015 Sedat Gu\u0308rel – Gu\u0308zin Gu\u0308rel International Voice Competition in Istanbul, this season has been an explosive one for the young mezzo. In addition to winning the Zadek competition in Vienna, she also walked away with the Supporters and Sponsors Prize, the Media Jury prize, a master class with Christa Ludwig, and a gala concert at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe in Germany.<\/span><\/p>\n

For 2016\/17 she joins the ensemble of Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp\/Ghent singing six roles including Mary in Der fliegende Holla\u0308nder, Nezhata in Sadko, and Kristina in Die Sache Makropulos. For 2015-16 she participated in Merola Opera Program, singing Eboli in selections from Verdi’s Don Carlo and Santuzza from Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana and was the mezzo Studio Resident Artist at Michigan Opera Theatre singing Lady in Waiting in Verdi’s Macbeth, Third Lady in Mozart’s Magic Flute, and Ma Moss in<\/span> Copland’s The Tender Land. Other opera credits include Lily in Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess at Grand The\u0301a\u0302tre de Gene\u0300ve, Mama McCourt in The Ballad of Baby Doe at Chautauqua Opera, Albine in Thai\u0308s at Florida Grand Opera, the Owl in the American Premiere of Unsuk Chin\u2019s Alice in Wonderland at Opera Theatre Saint Louis, Zita in Gianni Schicchi at the Aspen Music Festival, the Nurse in Decoration by Mikael Karlsson with American Opera Projects, Countess in Tchaikovsky’s Pique Dame with Russian Opera Workshop at the Academy of Vocal Arts, and Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro with Opera on the Avalon. With the Manhattan School of Music Opera Theatre, credits include Begbick in Weill\u2019s Rise and Fall of Mahagonny, Albine in Thais, Candelas in El Amor Brujo, and Carmela in La Vida Breve.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Solo concert credits include John Corigliano\u2019s Of Rage and Remembrance at the Aspen Music Festival with Maestro Steven Stucky, Mahler\u2019s Symphony No. 2 with Maestro Kent Tritle in a world premiere organ transcription at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine, Verdi\u2019s Requiem at Marywood University, Prokofiev\u2019s Alexander Nevsky with Maestro Philippe Entremont, Handel\u2019s Messiah with Maestro Phillip Nuzzo and the Metro Chamber Orchestra, and Durufle\u2019s Requiem with Maestro David Thye. Other works include Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle, Mozart’s Regina Coeli, and Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb. Also an ardent proponent of contemporary music, composer Kyle Werner’s Psalm 42 was written for her voice and premiered in 2013. Ms. Bryce-Davis also sang the world premiere of Four Songs for Mezzo Soprano and Orchestra by Jacob A. Greenberg.<\/span><\/p>\n
