He has written 3 operas, 10 musicals, 150 art songs, choral, orchestral and chamber works, including operas for Houston Grand Opera, Opera San Jose, and Arizona Opera. Off-Broadway and West End musicals include Gunmetal Blues and Enter the Guardsman (Grand Prize Winner-International Musical of the Year). He has been a coach for Houston Grand Opera, Opera San Jose and was Musical director at he Banff Centre for the Arts for 3 seasons. He has received 3 NEA grants and 3 Meet the Composer grants, ASCAP, Dramatist\u2019s Guild, BMI and Guthrie awards.
